The vast majority of users of personal computers and laptops know perfectly well what an antivirus program is for. Windows 8.1 has built-in Microsoft Defender Antivirus, but in certain situations it is better to replace it with another program in order to keep your computer protected. Disable Windows Defender in Services

1. Press the key combination “Windows” + “R” and in the text field of the “Run” dialog box, type the command: services.msc

3. Select the first tab “General settings” in the window, “Startup type” is set to “Automatic” by default, in order to change it you need to click the small arrow on the right and select “Disabled” in the menu

4. To confirm the action, click “OK”.

After rebooting the computer, “Microsoft Defender in Windows 8.1” will be disabled – you can install and use another antivirus, with regular updates, which is very important!
